The Magnificat two...

I came across Arvo Pärt via Jon, and then was prompted to actually *listen* to some when Bill Drummond said Pärt was the only thing he listened to these days (and if it's good enough for Kingboy D...).

As you may have noticed, I've been on a bit of a classical run for the last day or two (prompted by the Paul Morley book) so this fits in as well as being rather beautiful.

Hey, thanks for posting Arvo Pärt. (Even with a flawed URL the mention is worthwhile ;)

Folks who are new to this kind of music, which is often called Mystical Minimalism, should definitely investigate Henryk Górecki, whose Third Symphony ("A Symphony of Sorrowful Songs") is probably the definitive example of this new classical style.
